Date of Press Release : 27th November, 2019.

SINGAPORE, Nov. 27, 2019 — Commencing 6 December, 2019, DEX GROUP publicly makes Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) lamps, luminaires and modular light panels available to the home, office, commercial space and Building cum Construction industry in the Singapore market.

Like their counterparts in the Display sector: OLED TVs, OLED laptops and OLED mobile screens, OLED lamps and luminaires raise the bar for relevant industries worldwide. In congruence to OLED display applications, Organic LEDs deliver no flickering nor eye glaring lighting effects at stunning colour reproduction of above 93 CRI.

A class above and made with completely biodegradable carbon-based light substrate layers, the 1.5mm ultra-thin incorporated OLED light panels naturally emit low levels of blue light rays equivalent to the 8:00-9:00a.m. morning sun, with no ultraviolet (UV) or infrared (IR) ray. They do not need the inclusion of any harmful light filtering technology.

The issue of blue light hazards brought by modern day LEDS and white light luminaires is not a new global concern. In retrospect, multiple universities and researchers from various disciplines: Chemistry, Neurology, Structural and Cellular Biology, Medicine, Opto-Mechatronics, Materials Science and Engineering Science, around the world have intermittently published relevant public calls of health warning in the lighting arena. Urges directed at governments to enact new enforcement rules for labelling of light spectrums emitted on light-based product packaging have also surfaced in the last decade. Amongst these countries are America, France, Israel and Taiwan.

The latest notable health warning was reiterated by Channel News Asia, World News, on the 15th of May, 2019, “New findings confirm earlier concerns that exposure to an intense and powerful [LED] light is ‘phototoxic’ and can lead to irreversible loss of retinal cells and diminished sharpness of vision,” the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) warned in a statement. “The blue light in LED lighting can disturb natural sleep rhythms,” France’s government-run health watchdog added.

Inorganic LEDs emit over three times or more blue light than OLEDs and excessive exposure to blue light has been linked to many academically reported health issues such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity and insomnia.

“We are so excited in making avail Organic LED lamps and luminaires to every Singaporean,” Si E. Goh, Marketing Director at DEX GROUP. “OLED lighting products are so healthy that they are not even required to undergo the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)’s Photobiological Standard Safety Testing of the eye and skin as they are not expected to reach a level of UV, infrared or blue light hazard that requires marking.” This exemption is not given to any other current day lighting technologies.

Dexy & Deci Organic LED home lamps and DEXOR commercial luminaires protect desk bound and oftentimes late night working consumers from retinal damages otherwise inflicted by high hazardous levels of blue light rays emitted by commonplace LED and fluorescent lights. When DEXOR OLED wall panels; Dolomite-220 are installed in study rooms and bedrooms, they ensure protected sleep unaffected by harmful pre-sleep lighting as melatonin production in the brain has not been suppressed.

In view of protecting developing babies and adolescents who are highly susceptible to the dangers of blue light rays due to their delicate retinas, parents may opt for the installation of candle-style DEXOR Planar Non-Flex-55 light panels or Dexy & Deci Lily OLED E27 light bulbs. At a colour temperature of 1600K, these warmly diffused and calm ambient lights emit light rays which are completely blue light hazard free, without any ultraviolet or infrared ray. Consumers would most ardently be awed by the amazing lack of heat generated by warm white 3000K OLED light panels despite of long durations of usage. This attribute along with other salient features, tops the OLED lighting technology off as the best lighting choice wherever we are.

The debut range of Dexy & Deci Organic LED home lamps and luminaires will make its first consumer stop at the upcoming Suntec BookFest organised by Popular Holdings Limited, from 6-15 December, 2019. Additionally, inaugural commercial installations are being carried out at the premise of Chicky Fun, formerly under the Kopitiam Group.
